Picture of Common Newt © Mike Draycott

Smooth or Common Newt - Lissotriton vulgaris
Size -  6 cm long
See them - May - August.

These Newts were first seen in the pond in May 2012, although they may have been there earlier, but the pond was too murky to see.

They are amphibious, so may have travelled overland to get to a suitable mating site. You can just see a hint of the red underside.
